The GBS Construct is an operating system that delivers enterprise-level competitive advantage by leveraging scale, improved services, agile business operations, process transformation, and digitally enabled business capability innovations. ALL of this is done systemically and is ever improving.

Conformance is a prerequisite

Organizations may call themselves GBS without conforming to the Construct, and vice versa. Adhering to the GBS Construct is a prerequisite to benefit from the approaches in the standard, regardless of what the organization is named.

APEX V2 STANDARD

Three essential elements of the GBS Construct

First, an 'Open Market' operating model as opposed to an order-taking or functionally siloed model. Second, the capability to overcome geographic and functional boundaries whilst fully leveraging enterprise scale. Third, one consistent set of capabilities — E2E processes, standard tools and procedures, a consistent deployment model for both projects and operations, and a unified interaction model for User, Customer and Vendor engagement extending to other parts of the company.

APEX V2 STANDARD

Function, E2E and Experience orientations

Services, service bundles and capabilities can be organized by Function (HR, Finance, Sales), by E2E process (Source to Pay, Hire to Retire) or by Experience (Employee, Customer, Vendor). Many companies start with Function as the main aggregator and over time move towards E2E and Experience, managing a hybrid model during the transition.
